I am thinking of training as a hypnotherapist. I am 57 and have been a social worker for 20+ years. I still have a mortgage to pay so I need to have a reasonable income. Any comments welcome

A male reader, anonymous, writes (9 July 2006):

You would have two options: Join an existing hypnotherapy practice, in which case you need to find out if there are any openings in these kind of practices, what the demand for places are, etc. Alternatively you can start out on your own but you need to know how to build a practice, what qualifications you need, how much demand there is, how to attract patients, etc. Hope this helps!
