writes:I am 17 years old (Australian) and have no idea what I want to with my life. I am under a lot of pressure as my applications for university courses are due soon as university courses start next year in Feb. I have always loved art and been interested in technology so I always thought I would persue a career in the arts and technology industry (for example graphic design, web design etc...) but recently I have been put off the whole idea. Not too long ago some people critized artwork that I done and I took it pretty persnally and since then I haven't done anything arty because I feel so bad about it.I don't take put downs well, especially when they are to do with art cause to me its something really persnal. People keep telling me that I need to get use to it if I want to do somethign in the art industry, but thats exactly the probelm, I don't want to be an artist or anything alike because I don't like critisism. So...basicaly I don't know what to do.Art is the only thing I am slightly good at. Although I get at least a pass all my subjects at school, its the only thing I have done best in, as well as in technology based subjects.So I guess my question is, what do you think I should do? In a way I guess i still would like to consider one of those careers but the thought of being put down really puts me off it.thanks for any advice in advanced :) Reply to this Question |

reader, anonymous, writes (29 January 2008): well the fact is that in life there are very many things that will put you off, to say the truth the things you enjoy most, which happen to be art and technology are things you should try and keep strong in your mind about. It is easier said than done but life will have many disapoinments its what its all about. Some poeple may dislike your art but there will also be people that like it. Careers change alot in life and after a bit of searching you will find someone that appreciates your work which is why you should keep trying. Being unique and different interests people so try it.

look dont listen to any one elce u do wot you want to do in your own time hun as u r only a youngster and if u really like art like me then take it up and see where you go with it it will make u happy and fullfill ur dreams of an artist trust me i know i am an artist so u carry on hun and do as u feel ok and do not let any one presure you in to any thing u do not want t do i hope i have helped you with you quiestion hun and it helps u to make a choice in wot you want to do in life bye for now glad to of helped you
