I am looking to pursue a career in H.R. in the U.K. as I am Spanish and have lived for three years in this country.

I have studied English for these time, and taken some important examinations: First Certificate in English and IELTS.

I completed a Degree in Labour Relations and a Masters in Occupational Health and Safety in Spain.Similarly, I have three years experience as a Labour Relations Consultant in Spain.

My problem is that I can find H.R. Assistant position or even an admin job in the U.K. because I do not have experience in this country. I was wondering if taking a Masters in H.R. Management is going to help me to find a job as it is not a decision to be taking lightly since they are very costly.

I would appreciate any assistance that you might be able to give me.

Kind regards,

Nuria

I am HR Manager in the UK, and I think my advise would be certainly consider doing your Masters, but critically it's getting your foot though the door and gaining some work experience. It sounds like you've already got the right academic qualifications, though maybe you need to look at the post-graduate course (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) to focus on UK legislation and employee relations.

Perhaps a careers advisor can help you look at your CV in case the terminology is turning off potential employers?

Good luck! x

soletshearit agony auntYou are definitely going in the right direction seeking more education, a masters or a CIPD Qualification will definitely benefit you in seeking a career in HR. Look around for internships or work placements and use the college or uni that you are going to for a source of opportunity...surely they have a careers guidance person that can steer you in the right direction. Keep looking, whats meant for you doesn't pass you by (unless you let it!) BEST OF LUCK
