The reason I didn't choose journalism in the first place was that my english teacher had little faith in me and would constantly tell me that I was a failure. her comments always discouraged me, but when I gained an A for my Higher English exam this year, I knew I could do it. I don't want to withdraw my application to do psychology as it is too late to apply for anything this year. Which other routes can I take?I am from Scotland. Many thanks Reply to this Question |

Hey,
As far as I know it's never too late to change your course at Uni, a friend of mine did it after her first term.....
I'd advise applying through clearing for your Journalism course and see if you can get a place that way - or ring your admissions department and tell them you want to switch courses. Make sure you're clear about what you want and provide them with definite answers.
And if all that fails, take a year out, travel, get a job, work experience and reapply for the course you want. It's MUCH easier the 2nd time round because you already have your results and they give you an unconditional offer.
Your parents might freak out, (mine did!) but if you can explain why and assure them you'll go to Uni the next year they'll probably chill out.
(I reapplied after choosing the wrong course and the wrong uni, and got a 2:1 in the end, so it all worked out OK!)
Good luck, email me if you need anything else.

Depending on how they are organised you might be able to switch courses - I did though that was a good few years ago ;) And is it too late for this year? Could you do a short media course somewhere else & transfer to uni at a later date? Or consider doing something else for a year (job? voluntary work?) if you are sure about your change of heart - students generally have a hard time financially so don't start a course you're not really keen on if doing so means that your future options are limited. Good luck.
