Hello people... I am thinking of doing an MBA from Cardiff University, England. I am from Aisa, 25 years of age with 5 years of working experience... I'm getting into the International Students quota... could anyone tell me if the Univ is one of the best in the UK. This course means a lot of money and time to me and I am investing every last penny I have... and my intention is to get into the top 25 Univ in London while I am spending this kind of money anyway. Could someone help me... any students on this site? Or if anyone can help me understand what I can expect from this. If you can suggest any other University names, that will be helpful too. Thanks much in advance...

DrPsych agony auntI did my first degree at Cardiff University including some business management options from the Business School. The Business School is highly rated for research and teaching standards according to the RAE assessment. The guardian newspaper are online and publish guides to each University in the UK so consult that. Cardiff University is one of the 'old' Universities and not one of the polytechnic colleges that acquired Uni. status. In some circles (and I think MBA would be included) there is still a prejudice against degrees from the new Universities. The London Universities (UCL, Kings College etc) have an international reputation for academic excellence. However, you need to factor into the cost of living in London compared to Cardiff. I was born in Cardiff and now live in London so I can tell you that housing and the cost of living are much cheaper in Cardiff. You also need to investigate immigration as I am sure you are aware those 'lovely' people at the Home Office are abolishing appeals to international student visas very soon!

I live in the UK and it's not a name I'd instantly associate with "great MBA university". LBS is the best I think.
