I am 18 (nearly 19) in the UK, and about to start a course at my college for BTech 1st Diploma in Art and design. The course is fantastic... but im not sure what career i want to go into. Does anybody have any advice or guidance? I love watercolour, and there will be photography as well as general art subjects such as 3D work and sketching etc. I need to get a reasonably paid job to help pay for my family's up keep (son and partner)

I didnt do much art at school so was never advised on careers in this area

There are many jobs if you have a degree in art/design, so long as you build up a good portfolio of work, some of which is commercially slanted (e.g. some web design, some product photography/design, etc), you will stand a good chance of getting employment. Good designers are hard to come by, but poor ones are ten a penny. You need to distinguish yourself by the work you produce. Good luck!
