I feel my boss is favouring my co-worker over me!

I have been at my current job for almost 5 years. For the most part I enjoy my job and have always been a hard worker. A little over a year ago the boss hired new consultants. They have made sweeping changes, some good some not so good.I recently found out my co-worker (who was hired after the consultants came on board) is making alot more money than I do. She and I hold the same position. In fact I trained her. The boss backs this employee 100%. In fact any mistake she makes gets punted back to me with the remark this must be a training issue. I feel the boss and the consultants are trying to push the "old" employees out the door. We previously had a staff of 12 and currently only 3 of the "old" employees remain. I am very uncomfortable in this situation. Any advice would be greatfully appreciated.

I would start looking for a new job. It sounds like the consultants are investing in the new hires rather than the old employees. If they were interested in keeping you on staff you would be paid the same. The consultants were not able to eliminate the old staff so you still have some value to them but I would be prepared for anything once they get the new staff trained. I am curious how you gained access to salary information. Salaries are usually kept confidential. Does your boss know you know? Be careful. If you confront your boss about the pay issue you may have more to answer for than you bargained for. Bottom line get out while the gettin is good. Remember never burn your bridges you may need a reference in the future. Best of luck to you.
