reader, anonymous, writes (5 November 2006): the best thing for you to do is to get a lot of varied experience. i have worked in many bars/hotels/clubs and they are all different. with a good wide experience you will be able to pick from the best in each.
-know how to pick good staff and keep them
-value old and new customers
-customer is ALWAYS! right
-treat it as a business not! your own social watering hole.
-etc
Always keep in mind the fundamentals of your job and you will suceed.

reader, anonymous, writes (3 November 2006): Well I guess working in one would be a good start, if you don't already. (Sorry, don't know what your qualifications are, RSA, RCG?) I think that finance tends to be a barrier so start saving!
