Hi can ayone help me? My problem is that I want to becaome a Goth.. however I am also considering a career in acting/as an actress or working with horses (going to an agricultural college) Can I do both?? I have NEVER seen a goth working with horses??? So if I worked with horses would becoming a Goth/gothic be a problem? Also about the acting....do you know of any famous actors/actresses who are gots/gothic?? Could i still be a Goth if I was an actress? PLEASE CAN ANYBODY HELP!!!!!

What kind of jobs can Goths get ussually?? What sort of careers do they go into??

Also I failed my GCSEs (with G grades) am i clever enough to become a Goth? Don't you have to know stuff like painting, writing poetry etc ..to be a Goth? I don't have a clue about any of these things....so how could I become a Goth?? Also don't you need to know school subjects such as.....history,religion, etc?????

What kind of careers do Goths ussually get???

PLEASE CAN ANYONE OUT THERE OFFER ME ANY ADVICE???????? I know this is quite an unusual subject but please help as this is important to me

And I thought all Goths did was to get dressed in black from head to toe, with boots up to the knees, dyed black hair and try to frighten the rest of the public by looking as if they've just stepped off the set of the latest Frankenstrin movie!

Perhaps I was wrong!

Typically speaking the gothic culture is an artistic one, so those who are 'goths' often have artistic talent and could very well go into a career in the art industry. Either way, you could have any jobs, it shouldn't be limited by whether or not you are a goth. Although some places don't like hiring people with peircings and tatoos etc as it could be due to healthy and safety regulations or they make not think its appropiate. But you can always cover that up when going to work.

So basically, you can still be a goth but jsut make sure when going for job interviewers and when goign to work you dress appropiatly for the job. I don't think being an actress would mean you wouldn't be 'allowed' to be a goth.

DrPsych agony auntI used to be a goth...I know a couple of goths now who are in high ranking jobs. My brothers kids call me 'auntie or dr dracula'...although I have toned down the black clothes somewhat these days. I still treasure my mission collection. Being a goth never stopped me getting a job but then I was never covered in bat tattoos or facial body piercings...and I never went to a job interview in a cloak. If you are going for a mainstream job...dress mainstream for the day!

There are lots of actors who have goth tendencies but I think the key to all this is to be adaptable - isn't being an actor or actress about being able to play many different roles. To do that you have to not do anything to your person like piercings that could affect your work opportunities - lets face it acting is competitive anyway!

As for not knowing about poetry or not being in mensa, well does it really matter? I was only into the music and clothes (still think they are great). I think being a goth means being an individual and one step from that is interpreting the term 'goth' according to what you like doing or dressing - it is open to individual intepretation. Being a goth is well described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth

Ponungalungb agony auntIf you want to limit your employment opportunities, becoming a "Goth" is a sure-fire way of doing it. About the only Goths I ever see (in the U.S.) are hanging around with other Goths at the local mall (shopping center). They don't seem to be too inspired to actually get jobs. Employers don't seem to be in too big of a rush to hire them either. They are simply too bizarre for main stream employment. Stay the way you are, get a good education, and find a good job. Good luck!
