writes: Dear sir/madam,I am not too sure if I have e-mailed the correct place for the ‘advice’ I am looking for. However, I would be very, very grateful if there is any info you can give me, whether it is via the post, websites I can visit or books I could obtain form my local library.Firstly, I am currently studying an HND in Beauty Therapy, which I will finish next June along with other short Holistic Therapy courses. I also have an HND in Make Up Artistry. What I am looking for is; when I finish my HND next year would like to work (after a few years salon experience in the UK) in the United States for a few years then eventually, if possible, open my own salon over there. However I have no idea where to start looking for some information on what I need in order to;A – find a job in a Beauty Salon as a Beauty Therapist and Make Up ArtistB – find out about living and working in the US i.e. getting accommodation, amenities, banking etcC – about opening a Beauty Salon. How I go about it (I already have a business plan) Is there funding available like the ‘Prince’s Trust’ or ‘Scottish Enterprise’. Basically what I need to do as a whole in general starting a business there.I am really, really sorry that this seems like a lot that I am asking for help with. I really have NO ideal, or any clue of what to do or where to start looking/finding out about what I require to do.I am only starting to look this early as I am aware about visas are required and I assume they take a while to be sorted out. Also so I can get prepared early and in enough time to live out my dream of working in the US in plenty of time.Thank you very, very much for taking time to read my e-mail. Once again I apologise for the length of my email and for asking for so much information/feedback.Kind Regards Reply to this Question |

You seem to have a great plan but if your not going to relinquish your citizenship then legally a work Visa is your only choice.
Work Visas are required and they are expensive, and complicated yearly fees. Some business when desperately needing employees will 'sponsor' someone and pay for the yearly visa and lawyer fees so they can work in the USA. Yet the beauty industry has a surplus of workers not a need.
You will need to have a lawyer help you with the visa process and you will be required to foot the bill.
